HELP WANTED! There's an anime project me and a couple of friends are working on... However, we need an idea to begin with! Time dimension? Genre like... School life? Romance? Action/Fantasy? or maybe Sci-Fi... Lots of decisions to make, so if anyone has any ideas (any at all doesnt matter, we're open, and we just need a starting idea... develpments can come later)... Just speak up lads!
Update on the Anime storyline:
So we've started off with the idea of "hoverboards/ snowboards"... They're basically snowboards, but they hover at and inch or two off the ground and they have little thrusters at the back for launching. Simply put, theyre high-speed snowboard races. No more has been developed yet, and we're still open for any storyline development!

Hmm. Snow/hoverboard, eh? That's... unique. So will this be like a racing/battle anime (IGPX, Oban: Star Racers),or will they be just props?
Otherwise, you may want, with the boards, a very mountainous setting for this project. And some characters suited to the cold...

Oh yeah definitely... we've come up with the idea of "impervious to cold" so that they dont have to wear giant poofy jackets hoverboarding downhill... and so that they can stil look awesome in their totally smak clothing...
I believe the idea for now... its gonna be a racing anime... the point is the thrill of racing and stuff... this is our first one so we dont wanna make it TOO complicated. Maybe later on we'll add lotsa plot twists and evil demons and stuff... I'll keep you updated on any more plot developments.
What is... "star racers"

What if you included more areas to race, like an abandoned city or something of the sort. Just keep the snow for consistency.
Maybe you could add weaponry to the hover/snowboards. You know, so you could take other racers out of the race.

O___O! So like... machine guns on the front... or heat-guided missiles that lock onto target and can take out competition! Sounds cool... although we dont want the guy to die... maybe include a kind of... derouter missile ... or a light flare that blinds competitors... thanks! I'll ask the guys on that one.
And abandoned city sounds good too... we were originallly just gonna have them race down hills... borng huh? I can hear them challenging each other already... Tee hee...

OOH! That sounds cool. And Oban: Star Racers was a short lived racing anime on Toonami.

WELL. Back onto topic -
Um... I would suggest a sort of punk theme? But I suppose that's already decided upon, so. How about a little bit in the future (stating the obvious), like an AU (alternate universe).
So - The actual racing should take place in the mountains, of course. But, the challenges should be in a city, like an outpost. The cities could be like grunge style... And you could have buildings where people can sign up to race against a random person?
And someone has to have goggles, please. Goggles are teh luff. Maybe some elements of the original snowboarding idea could be kept, but the huge jackets that obscure costumes can go.
What do you think?

We've got our main character wearing goggles, but they're worn around his neck so it looks really cool. The people and time could be compared to those featured in Eureka Seven, I guess. The technology is more advanced, but the living conditions are somewhat poorer... And as for the racing setting, I guess we're gonna have a broken down (grungy? as suggested) and abandoned city. Thanks for the idea on that one!
As it turns out, making a half an hour movie is taking WAY too long. The opening animation (I have 5 seconds done!) has taken almost a month. Hence! We're making a small series- opening theme, 5 minute to 10 minute animation (hopefully) and ending credits. Some new recruits have joined the animation team at school, however, they're not doing much except bragging about all their anime stuff *grumbles*. If we're lucky, working hard, and not distracted, we could have opening animation + 2 episodes + closing credits + music and voices and sound effects. IF! When we're all done, we're putting it up on a site (also working on that!). You're welcome to visit once it's up.
Does anyone know how to get anime-crazed people to work harder on anime-animations instead of blabbing about anime/manga/otaku stuff they have at home... without offending them/ making them leave/ or ending up getting beaten? (Heh, the new recruits are all older than the original four artists...)

*facefalls* I love Pocky! ;_; Strawberry is sooo good!
Also, anyone have any suggestions on music for an opening theme song? Something fast, upbeat and driving to go with the intense hoverboard theme. Our original selection was "Shamrock" by UVERworld, but one of our team doesn't agree with it. Anything with an electric guitar and along the lines of "rock" will do.

Heeheehee...
Let me see...
Can it be from another anime?
Because then I totally suggest DangDang by ZZ, from Eyeshield 21. Do you want a list?
Because you're getting one anyways.
DangDang by ZZ, from Eyeshield 21 Chain of Power, from Eyeshield 21 (it gets a little strange later on, though it's catchy.) BE survivor from Eyeshield 21 (heh) Lu~na by Gackt, you can get it off of Myspace Kibou no Kakera by Nana Kitade 13nichi no Kinyoub by Nana Kitade dark snow angel by Nana Kitade BASKET CASE by Nana Kitade Chouhatsu GIRL by Nana Kitade Ready Steady Go by L'arc~En~Ciel from Full Metal Alchemist
Ending Songs: Blue Train by Asian Kung-Fu Generation (not from an anime, better for an ending song?) DaDa by Round Table feat. Nino., from Welcome to the NHK! One Life by The Pillows, from FLCL Ryuusei Miracle by Ikimono Gakari
Eheheh. I got a little carried away...
All or nothing, that's my policy! You could bring it in and let everyone listen...

Wow! There's so many songs to choose from! I'll have to find somewhere to listen to all these ones XD Thanks, Natsuki. Would you happen to know any songs that aren't from anime? ((Hint: English songs are ok too... preferably rock.))

Er... To be quite honest, I don't know very many English songs... >>; I feel very much like a geek.
I can give you a compressed file over Filesend if you want...

Ahaha, I don't know many English songs either, so that's why I'm asking. All my songs on my computer are Japanese XD.
Sure, compressed file sounds good. And update on animation! 200 frames done, so 6.7 seconds! Hourray!

Ne, ne! Have you guys already planned out the seiyuu - the voice actors?
And, if you wouldn't mind, could you give us an update on plot? :3

Voice actors, huh? Well, thus far, we've chosen a couple of friends to take on a role or two. I'm the main character's best friend, as it stands...
As for the plot..Well, Akira's been working on the opening these past few weeks...and also has been blatently ignoring my advice that we should actually get/finish (if we're making) the opening theme first and then figure out how to create the opening accordingly. Ah well.
No actual developments on the story, though.
If you're wondering where I fall into the scheme of things, I'm the easily distracted n00b web site designer.

Heehee. Oh well. Is there anything else you need help on?
What kind of characters do you have?

Post by SoM on Mar 29, 2007 22:38:19 GMT -5
Characters are, in order of importance:
-Yuki: The main character. Yuki is a carefree kid with average grades who loves nothing more than a good ride on his board. Well, that, and also scoring all the girls in his class. Harbors a secret crush on Hitomi (more on her later). Voiced by: My best friend. Who is a complete fool, I might add. D:
-Reiki (or at least, I thought he was called that): Yuki's best friend. Not only does he board, but he also works in the family trade of repairing and creating boards, thus understanding at a developed level the best techniques to use while in race. Quite adept when it comes to academics. Voiced by: me! : D
-Hitomi: Also Yuki's best friend. In general, she is rather happy and klutzy. While a tragic accident in her childhood left her traumatized about boarding in general, she doesn't mind watching from the sidelines and is slowly crawling back into the sport step by step. Harbors a secret crush on Yuki. Voice Actor: Another best friend.
-The Annoying Little Brother: Yuki's, er, annoying little brother. Doesn't have a great impact on the story, but just hangs around and acts annoying. True name unknown. Voice actor: Yuki's, or rather, the person who voices him's annoying little brother. Betcha' didn't see that one coming.
These are just the ones I can remember. Along the way, there will be a variety of different characters, each with unique personalities and traits. We think.
As for help, we wouldn't mind any helpful advice on how to develop the story, seeing as we have little to no ideas right now. ;-;

LOLZORZ. orly? Well, sessha thinks you need more girls. And, if you have any naming problems, sessha can help! (Such as the ALB) And you need help with a plot, huh? *^* [[pa-sheen!]] Okay, it could center around a series of matches/tournaments, with prizes such as money coming going to the winner. Also, the main character needs a driving force - so, he boards for fun, sure, but he needs to have a reason to snowboard competitively, like, he competes so he can save up for an amazing board, or he needs [x amount of] money towards his little brother's cancer treatment (wth? brainfart.) So, then appears a large tournament in which he can get all the money at once... At risk of losing the money he's already gotten...? So Yuki joins, and so does Reiki, and Hitomi, but Hitomi can drop out early, etc. Or something like that... Do you like? Is Akira doing any voice-acting? And, how long will the episodes be? AKIRA-NEE-SAAAAN. Here is your music!
